Judge rejects bid to disqualify JPMorgan law firm in Epstein litigation

A federal judge on Thursday rejected an attempt to disqualify the law firm defending JPMorgan Chase & Co against a lawsuit by women who claimed they were abused by Jeffrey Epstein and that the bank aided in the late financier’s sex trafficking.

US District Judge Jed Rakoff in Manhattan said the firm WilmerHale did not have a conflict of interest because it once represented an antisex trafficking group that supported Courtney Wild, one of Epstein’s accusers.

Final FTC Rule on Non-Competing Not Expected Before April 2024

According to Bloomberg, The Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) is not expected to vote on the final version of a new rule that would ban non-compete clauses in employment contracts until April 2024. The rule defines a “non-compete clause” as “ a contractual term between an employer and a worker that prevents the worker from seeking or accepting employment with a person, or operating a business, after the conclusion of the worker’s employment with the employer.”
