Hirono has invited Kalei Grant, Assistant Coordinator of the Hawai’i Department of the Attorney General’s Missing Child Center Hawaii (MCCH), to be her guest at President Joe Biden’s State of the Union Address. Grant has served as the Assistant Coordinator at MCCH since 2018.

Attorney General visits government lawyers in Leeds

The Rt Hon Victoria Prentis KC MP visited the Government Legal Department’s (GLD) Leeds office on Friday 27 January 2023 to meet with civil servants, including government lawyers.

The Attorney General was joined by Elizabeth Hambley, Director General of GLD’s Commercial with Trade and International directorate and champion of the Leeds office.

GLD is staffed with nearly 3,000 colleagues and over 2,500 lawyers, 172 of whom are based in Leeds – up from 112 in 2021.

Government lawyers work on some of the most complex and varied legal issues of the day, ranging from education and transportation to health.

Attorney for billionaire at center of Clarence Thomas controversy offers to meet with Judiciary staff

An attorney for GOP megadonor Harlan Crow offered to meet with Senate Judiciary Committee staff as Democrats push to investigate undisclosed, luxury trips that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas accepted from the real estate developer.

Crow’s attorney, Michael Bopp, has rebuffed the committee’s demands for information, but in a Monday letter, Bopp offered to meet with the committee staff to discuss their request.

“While the concerns we expressed in our Response about the Committee’s investigation remain, we respect the Senate Judiciary Committee’s important role in formulating legislation concerning our federal courts system, and would welcome a discussion with your staff,”

Top Trump attorney has recused himself from handling the Mar-a-Lago case

Attorney Evan Corcoran reccused himself from representing former President Donald Trump in the special counsel investigation related to the Mar-a-Lago documents given that he tested for investigators, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

Corcoran’s exit, which was first reported by The Washington Post, was an expected development after special counsel Jack Smith’s office forced him to testify without the shield of attorney-client privilege in front of the grand jury and prosecutors accused Trump of using his attorney to advance a crime.
